Yes, Jake?
Mrs. Jones told us in Sunday school today that God is almighty.
Yes, Jake. That’s true.
Does that mean He is stronger than anything or anybody?
Yes, Jake. But, Jakey… you know God isn’t like a superhero. His power is real. We can ask Him to help us with any problem.
For real, Mom?
Yes, Jake. For real. Can you tell me what this is about, Jakey? Are you in trouble?
No, Mom. I promise I’m fine. This is for somebody else.
For real, Jake? You know you can tell me anything, don't you?
Yeah, Mom. Thanks … I know.

Hi, Jake! I’m glad you're home. So, how did your day go?
It was great, Mom!
That’s good to hear, Jake. Did you … pray about that problem, Jake?
Yeah, I prayed last night, Mom. And I prayed again this morning. And it worked!
Can you tell me what happened, Jake?
Ok, Mom. There’s this boy named Oswald in my class. I always saw him in the cafeteria without lunch, but he wouldn’t discuss it. I offered him part of my lunch, but he said, “No, thanks.”
The other day, I saw some fourth graders picking on him and taking his lunch money. I told him to tell the teacher, but he was too scared to tell anybody. He told me not to tell anybody, either.
That sounds like a bad situation.
Yeah, it was. But now it’s not!
Why? Because you prayed?
Yes! I think so! Today, I saw him talking to the teacher, and then, at lunch time, he had his whole lunch. So it must have worked! God must have given him courage to tell the teacher.
Jake, that sounds wonderful. That was a good thing.
It sure was, Mom. And now that I see that God can help people, I’m gonna keep my eyes open for other kids who need prayer.
Jakey, that’s beautiful. You’re on your way to becoming a prayer warrior.
But, Mom, you said being a warrior is bad.
Yes, I did, Jake. But this is a different kind of war. Let’s talk about it after dinner with Dad and your sister. Ok?
Ok, Mom. Hey Mom?
What, Jake?
Do I need armor to be a prayer warrior?
Well, yes. But not the way you’re probably hoping for! I’ll explain later. For now, would you please set the table?
