of all the good throughout the years.
Yet even happy memories
still usher me the other way,
and all paths lead to tears.
Their actions showed their love,
which surely warms my heart,
but how I miss them now.
It isn’t long till sadness hits,
and I begin to fall apart.
It matters not where I begin.
No matter where I aim,
the sorrow still ensues.
Emotions trend me back to grief.
The paths all end the same.
I smile as I think
of laughter and the fun,
and yet it doesn’t last.
My feelings drift the other way,
with tears I’m overcome.
I do recall the happy times,
not just the hard or sad.
But either way, it matters not,
for my emotions lean the same.
I end up feeling bad.
I’m thankful they were here
for all the years they were.
But even gratitude
still leads me back to grief.
To tears I must defer.
In spite of grieving, try to think
of all the good throughout the years.
Yet even happy memories
still usher me the other way,
and all paths lead to tears.
