once appeared
in the eastern sky
when the Son born
wise men and kings homage paid
The Bright and Morning Star
Come quickly
drive away the tears
and fears
—the pilgrims’ travails
Like a watchmen
waiting for the Star
to turn groans and tears
into everlasting joy
and wholesome peace
Lily of the valley
and Morning Star
Welcome to the midst
console broken hearts
and wipe out saddest tears
The brightest Morning Star
shine on weary souls
heavy-laden hearts
gazing in confident Hope
convinced of the unseen
Lord cause Your face
to shine
on the darkening world
Your glory to fill this earth
through and through
The Bright and Morning Star
chase away the darkness
dawn the day
illuminate the human hearts
Give us the Morning Star we pray
Turn creation’s groaning
into rejoicing
all the handiworks
and angels
will celebrate once more
Arise in our hearts
The Bright Morning Star
we’ll be transformed
we’ll have full light
when we see You face
