The Bible reveals Jesus using a similar strategy with His disciples. When He was preparing to send them on a teaching mission, Jesus instructed them, “What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.” (Matthew 10:27 ESV). It seems He was reminding them to pass on to others what they had heard Him teach in private sessions. His teachings are no longer to be kept secret.
The disciples followed Jesus’ instructions. The Apostle John freely shared many personal stories about Jesus. The disciples’ fervor following Pentecost also bears this out. They taught what Jesus had taught them— not only in Jerusalem, but throughout the known world of that time.
Don’t you long to have Him whisper to you? How marvelous it would be to sit at His feet and learn the truths of God and His coming Kingdom. You and I can experience such moments when we read His Word. Will you join me in the coming days to sit at Jesus’ feet? Listen carefully to what He is softly speaking to you. If you are not sure where to start, I would suggest the books of Luke and John in the New Testament. Hopefully, you will soon be eager to tell someone else what you have learned!
