Whiling away memories, my children and I
On the lounge suite by my side.
Dreary, frigid whiteness
blizzard before us.
Gazing at the window, we sigh.
The cast iron wood-heater furnace
cheers the nip out of our faces
we pull up high our fleece
our colorful blankets we seize
We cozy in closer inside to not freeze.
Living room we just stay where we are.
Snuggled, tell stories, think over
the summery fun antics
and spring breeze frolics
my family enjoy together year after year.
But the outdoors blast of cold arctic air
and heavy snowfield lair.
Shudder,
Shiver.
My children wonder if dark winter will drag on much longer.
The weeping willow trees muzzled
In white of snow standing unflustered
straight and icy still,
Obstacles can’t kill.
The snowstorm, we decided, is no peril.
Having to hang around the longest winter
as it just has turned day One round the corner.
We’re remembering,
Childhood reliving
past winters of the snow-covered reflections.
Sloping hill, walking-distance behind our house.
The children sled there, momentarily lost
in the snow,
in the woods,
Or form a snowman we called, Jack Frost.
The roads and small town buried in
frenzied aloofness and fear.
The streets emptied
neighborhood hibernated,
hiding indoors, chilling in.
The township usually abuzz animated
with busy cafés, flower shops,
second-hand book stores,
and small churches
were lively places catching up with friends and families.
Took time off slowing down their pace,
Some to full stop and have closed
The obstacles,
the harshness of the times
can never dampen the human spirit.
Folks will slowly and gratefully bounce back
from lack of knowledge and fact.
We’re in strangest days
as these signs of the times.
As quickly and unexpectedly be ready by faith intact.
Yeshua spoke of the end times that follow
frigid divisiveness, truth disavowed
Cold and blight.
as our hopes of a warmer tomorrow helplessly dashed.
Stand with King Yeshua, the Son of God.
Looking out the window of our history
at a horizon
of dark desolation,
clouds of war and uncertainty penetrates every weary soul.
Waiting patiently, my children and I
At the Throne of our Heavenly King, we desire.
Trusting Him alone,
Though blizzards may beset the world.
We stand in praise, “Be still my soul” we arise.
Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
