in her home,
alone,
confined,
trying to make
the best of things,
and yet,
held hostage
at the hands
of her disease.
A shell
of her former self.
She’s the one
no one sees.
Being careful,
trying
not to put too much
on those she knows.
Too many times
her concerns
were met with silence,
so she guards
her deepest thoughts.
Her façade
does not reveal
she’s on her knees,
seeking strength
for another day.
She’s the one
no one sees.
Within her walls,
she lives authentically,
some days forlorn,
some days at peace,
always knowing
a normal life,
she cannot seize.
Barely crawling
through the maze
of her existence.
She’s the one
no one sees.
Others only know
what she reveals.
There’s no one there
to notice
the emptiness in her eyes,
to read
her worried expressions,
to watch
her smile slowly vanish.
They think she’s strong
and manages with ease,
oblivious
to how hard it is.
She’s the one
no one sees.
They are not aware
of all she faces,
how she’s
slowly,
subtly,
sinking,
and no one
hears her pleas.
Other than
All-Knowing One,
she’s the one
no one sees.
