so they say
but that’s not my
experience
It’s more like a hike
through a wild
and dangerous
Wilderness
It started easy
steady pace
a light pack of
Responsibility
Others in charge
leading me
choosing the path:
Authorities
Things changed quickly
We moved towns
The map I knew
disappeared
A child of ten
left alone
to find her way:
Terrifying
My pack grew heavy
but I smiled
hiding the hurt:
Abandonment
Strapped on new boots
Head held high
Shouldered the pack:
Advancement
The map was blank
Fear was real
Hiking in the
Wilderness
But I was never
Truly alone
God’s presence a
Sanctuary
I knew His voice
from childhood
I learned His ways
Salvation
Nothing to fear
He’s the Way
Speaking the Truth
Pathfinder
Following Him
I was safe to
empty the pack:
Deliverance
Jesus the map
His words life
His love guiding
Navigating
Safe in His love
I followed
Now I am free
Unburdened
Life’s still a hike
Wilderness real
But Jesus is near
Trailblazing
