We passed a Dunkin’ Donut, and hubby wanted to stop and grab cups of coffee, to enjoy before continuing on our journey. The next stop would be our final destination for this particular morning. To tell the truth, it was the main artery of our trip, and we were saving the best for last.
“Sweetheart, the article in the paper said it was open all day, so we don’t really have to rush. Let’s just relax and take in the nuances of this peaceful place.” My husband, was really getting into his cup of Java, while soft music was playing.
“Yeah Hon, I agree, no need to rush.”
“Do you think that we have enough gathered for the drop-off? Maybe, we should have waited longer? I don’t want to be embarrassed, if it isn’t enough to make a difference.”
“Honey, are you kidding me?” I turned to look at him before continuing, “Any amount will be sufficient.”
My husband, nodded his head, as he slurped down the last of his coffee.
“Is that nod a recognition of me being correct?”
“Yes, of course. After all, aren’t you always in the right?” He smirked, bringing his dimples into full view.
I gave him a quick kiss on his cheek, “Okay, let’s get going. We have to be back before 1 pm for the plumber.”
We continued on our way, but somehow got lost in the process. I was so frustrated, I hated getting lost. “Why is it we always get lost?”
“Um, maybe because you and I are the only two dinosaurs left, that don’t use a GPS, or our cell phones as a navigating system.”
“Well, the address is 33 Risen Lane, and this is Risen Lane. So, it should be here somewhere. But where the heck are the numbers, and buildings?”
We were seemingly going in circles, and I was growing inpatient, when my husband's voice resonated, “Honey, what did the ad say again?”
I read it aloud. “Redeeming accepted all day long, Redemption center will accept your load, no matter how big, or small.”
We saw the building at the same time, in unison we shouted, “There! Finally…that has to be it!”
We drove down the long winding driveway. My husband got out of the car, as I stared at the building momentarily, before joining him.
He opened the trunk and took out seven huge black bags.
“Okay, so let’s go in. We have an hour before the plumber comes to our house.”
We made our way up the steps opened the huge mahogany door, and walked into a beautiful foyer, and immediately heard beautiful voices singing, “How Great Thou Art.”
We looked at each other with identical knitted brows.
“Hello, welcome to the Redemption Center.”
“Oh, you startled us!” I smiled at the man in white.
“I’m the head of the Redemption Center.”
“This is my husband Ron, I’m Christine.”
“Nice to meet you both. Won’t you come with me?”
My husband answered, “Well, we don’t have much time,we’re expecting a plumber at our home around 1pm.”
“Yes, I know that.”
We were flummoxed, totally at that point. “How would you know that?” I asked.
“Well, I just do.”
“Okay, here is our bags of bottles. There are several hundred bottles to be redeemed. So, it should help with your charity, a little we hope.”
“This isn’t a bottle redemption center; it's not that kind of redemption. This is a Redemption Center, but it's for souls.”
We stood equally silent, trying to comprehend. I spoke first. “You mean, this is a church of some sort?”
“Yes, you could say that.”
My husband inquired, “But why did it say bring your load?”
“No burden is too big, or too small, for Christ.”
I gasped, "Redemption center, as in lay our burdens down?”
“Yes.” The man in white replied, with a strong, yet gentle tone.
My husband, and I were both saved that day, and surrendered our lives to Jesus Christ, our LORD and Savior, and no longer lost...
