in Word and in prayers
I sensed His tangible presence
the gap between heaven and earth
seemed so thin
How I long
for such an experience
to echo Jacob’s cry
Surely the Lord must be in this place
-yet I don’t know it
It spurs
me to seek and thirst
after Him
like a deer pants for water brooks
to nurture my soul
Often I need to silent
the voice outside
the inner dialogue within
to hear what He says
to discern the message
As I devote my time
to seek His face
I compete with distractions
drains, stress and strains
that deny and deprive me
Never have I faced
temptations and testings
so united
in their relentless attempt
to thwart and trump my desires
Nevertheless
I rejoice
for He sits on the throne
and triumphs over
my circumstances
He is in heaven
and He dwells in my heart
by His Spirit
He’s always near
a profound truth—what joy is mine!
