All mankind were devoted to sin
Rejecting God, and rejected by Him.
All species were saved by grace, in a boat,
Rain drowning all who weren’t in it afloat.
Ararat’s bosom embraced the ark, when
The earth was washed clean, and man started again.
Mercy met Abraham here on this peak.
Only son rescued, hear Yahweh speak!
Ram, crowned with thorns, pictures Jesus, the meek.
In this same place a plague stopped, by prayer,
And David decreed that God’s house would stand there.
His son built the Temple with painstaking care.
Smoke ringed its peak, fire flashed, the earth shook
Intense fear made Israel tremble to look.
Now Moses climbed to hear words from his Lord
As below him, the faithless and unruly horde
In favor of gold, Jehovah forsook.
Call all the people, the prophets of Baal,
Ahab the wicked, vile and despised,
Rant to your god, cut yourselves, but you fail,
Maybe he’s sleeping, this phony you’ve prized.
Elijah, he knows that his God will prevail,
Look, fire falls! Why are you so surprised?
Oh, think what happened, such suffering here!
Living Word bows in blood-sweating and tears.
Imploring His God, “Let this cup pass from Me!”
Vehement cries, “From this death set Me free!”
Even so, God’s will He fully embraced,
Submitting Himself to the torment He faced.
Carefully tread. This is holiest ground.
All of our sins on His person are found.
Love gasps in agony, bearing God’s wrath
Vicarious payment; our souls’ blood bath.
Ah, if you’ll trust Him to make you God’s own,
Repent of your sin, bow to Him on His throne,
You’ll be raised with Him, for your sins He’ll atone.
