Of doubts thrust in my head;
“Is the Word true?”
“It doesn’t apply to you.”
“Theyr’e only rules
To keep you down and small.”
“Obey My voice. I will lead you. I will guide you.”
Liar provides excuses
For giving up my coins.
“You’ve not enough.”
“You can’t afford to give.”
“Let someone rich
Finance their causes and their bills.”
“Trust in Me. I will provide; I will sustain.”
Fear mocks my trembling heart
When terror crowds in close.
“There is no hope.”
“It’s no use to fight.”
“There’s nothing left
But evil, loneliness, and death.”
“Rest in the Lord. Do not fear. I will never leave you.”
Pride flaunts his strength
And offers schemes and plans.
“You don’t need help.”
“Take the fame and glory.”
“Yes, you deserve
The spotlights and publicity.”
”Humble yourself and I will lift you up.”
Scoffer laughs in scorn
At the tales of a conquering King.
“Where is this God?”
“He’s forgotten you.”
“The world continues
As it has always been for eons and forever.”
”Wait on the Lord. I will come again.”
Fear, pride, and doubt
Are but sinking sands;
The Mighty God is my Rock.
In Him will I rest;
For Him will I wait;
To Him will I give my all.
