Down the straight, narrow one-way street,
Is a trip filled with decisions,
On the path I will choose to take.
Unexpected detours arise,
Shifting the route I travel on,
Sometimes leading up high mountains,
Sometimes leading thru low valleys.
Construction zone! Changes ahead.
Give me patience in the process,
To conform me in Your image--
More of You and much less of me.
Shine your light, Lord, upon my trail,
Don’t let my eyes become blinded,
By the distractions of this life,
But focused on this road of faith.
When I come to a four-way stop,
And don’t yield to God’s right-of-way,
I find myself on a dead end,
Until I let Him lead again.
Help me to obey your road signs,
As they show me the way to go,
Even when I don’t feel you near,
Continue to strengthen my trust.
God has supplied the travel plans,
That will safely lead me to home,
So when I take my last exit,
I’ll stand before His throne.
