Abides a resting place;
All who become believers
Accept God’s love and grace.
Over the hills and mountains,
Above the clouds and sky;
Beyond the evening sunset—
That’s where our heritage lies.
Somewhere north of forever,
Beyond where eye can see,
Jesus awaits His children
To join Him eternally.
Higher than all the planets,
Above the galaxies,
Beyond the vaulted cosmos
Homes only hearts can see.
Somewhere north of forever
A mansion’s planned for each;
Built in unique precision,
Though now, topping our reach.
Uppermost of creation,
Exposing mysteries;
Awaiting Heaven for truth,
Blending our histories.
Somewhere north of forever—
Beyond our wildest dreams—
Souls that have gone before us
Reside by living streams.
Canopied far above us
Divine, is Paradise;
Our eyes look up in worship,
Bated breaths the asking price.
Somewhere north of forever,
Where sunbeams dance with God;
Heaven in all its glory
Has streets of gold to trod.
Crowning the hanging planets,
In wrapped obscurity;
Divinity caps the world—
Farthest north as can be.
Somewhere north of forever,
The stars reach up in praise;
Paradise kneels in splendor,
Inclines the sun’s hot blaze.
Holy angels top the earth
Around God’s royal throne;
Illumined Light is unveiled,
Previously unknown.
Somewhere north of forever
Victorious laughter
Resounds amidst wispy clouds;
Saints top Jacob’s ladder.
Pearly gates open Heaven
To those with steadfast trust;
God awards all who enter
With crowns that will not rust.
Somewhere north of forever
Our Savior we will see,
Clothed in outstretched arms of love
And cloaked in majesty.
Lifting us up in glory,
We rise in victory
On top of the world we’ve known—
Perfection’s liberty!
Somewhere north of forever,
Preceding souls’ inner lights
Will shine through the bright’ning sky,
Where passed loved ones unite.
Former things will pass away,
No tears to dim our eyes;
Our pain no longer with us,
Sorrows un-multiplied.
Somewhere north of forever,
A perfect city lofts;
Covered in precious jewels
Unmatched, brightly embossed
All below is frivolous
And not reality!
Ascension is our treasure,
Ending mortality.
Somewhere north of forever,
Somewhere beyond our sight,
Somewhere upward and onward
Somewhere where we’ll take flight.
