And you’ve checked out recent form
You’ve consulted all the ‘racing gods’
As this is your weekly norm.
Then you put your money on your choice
Watch the ‘box’ with bated breath
While intently glued to the caller’s voice
As though this were life or death.
“Go you beauty” you yell out with glee
As your nag moves to the lead
But your shoulders slump despairingly
And you curse the useless steed.
Now the race is done, your money’s gone
And the odds were likely stacked
There’s a greater race to think upon
Where the form guide deals with fact.
So take time to check achievements past
With due diligence and care;
The dreadful form in your life amassed
The true form book will declare.
Then place all you treasure on the One
Guaranteeing great reward
For in Him the race of life is won—
It’s no gamble—Trust the Lord.
