“Stay in your assigned area, collect the blessings in these two baskets. You two are on ‘yellow’ duty. Don’t stop to read them. Every
hour take them directly to Him. It’s easy. Any questions?”
These two had problems on their last assignments and needed an easy one.
“One more thing, don’t touch the dark ones.” Al instructed.
“Why?” Angela queried.
“That’s only for Him to know. They go up non-stop. Get to work.”
“Yes, sir!” Angelica replied.
“We got it” Andy added.
The beauty surrounding them was astonishing. Through the clouds below the saw a tiny speck.
“Wow! So there’s earth.”
“It’s amazing how much time He spends thinking of miniscule beings on that speck of a planet.”
“They are created in His image,” Angelica reminded Andy.
“Yes they are.”
They enjoyed the view for only a minute when they noticed the blessings rising up, millions of yellow, blue and dark ones. With no time to waste, they started gathering. Blessings floated and swayed and flickered shining bright in space. Angelica and Andy flew back and forth, up and down within their assigned area gathering the yellows.
After only a few minutes Andy noticed, “Hey, my basket is full. Maybe I should go present them now.”
“NO! Stick to the instructions? That’s what got us in trouble on our last assignment.”
Angelica’s hand inadvertently lingered in her basket and she could see the blessings. It was wonderful. And though, told not to, she grasped some and encouraged Andy to do it.
They could see, hear, feel and know these blessings. For just a minute they basked in the euphoria of warmth, beauty and peace emanating.
‘Thank you Lord for my health.’
‘Thank you God for sunshine.’
‘Thank you Lord for saving me.’
‘Thank you, for getting my daughter through surgery.’
‘Thank you for my job, food, home, pets, the sun, moon, stars, mother, father on and on and on.’
“It’s hard to believe these are coming from some of those we met down there.” said Andy.
“The Lord is Good!”
“All the time!” Andy added.
Just then a big dark ‘black’ zipped through near ‘yellows’ that were passing by.
“Now look what you’ve done!”
Both scrambled and rushed to gather. The more they added in the basket, the more fit. Anjelica reached for the dark one.
“NO!” shouted Andy. “Only yellow!”
‘Blue’ nor ‘green’ tempted Angelica. She had heard about them. Blue were requests, desires and wants of God’s people. They always wanted something. Greens were from children. She wanted to know about the dark ones, but resisted.
The hour went quick. They placed their baskets at His feet with other angels. There were millions, billions of baskets filled with ‘yellows,’ ‘blues’ and ‘greens.’ Closest to Him were the dark ones. Angelica noted they were black with yellow and blue specks. Her curiosity was piqued.
All the angels broke out in chorus, “Hallelujah to the Lord of Lord and the King of Kings.” Praising and bowing to Him.
God was pleased. Angelica and Andy knew this was the best assignment. They went back to work.
On the way back Anjelica saw a dark just hanging in space. She reached out and touched it for a split second. A tidal wave of emotions over took her. Grief, sadness, anger jolted her angelic body. She had never experienced such sadness and pain. The convulsions didn’t compare to waves of disappointment, abandonment and loneliness. She felt like she was being crushed from all sides and broken into a million pieces at the same time. When she tried to pry in from her own hand she brushed on of the yellow specks and sensed a faint murmur.
“Lord, I miss my baby so much. But, I know Lord that you are in control. Thank You Lord for never leaving me, thank you for the plans you have for my baby and me. I know You are Good.”
Anjelica did not understand.
“How could this thankfulness and praise come from such deep grief, sadness and despair?”
“MY LOVE HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD.”
Startled, Angelica realized she was front and center to the LORD. She
cowered because of her disobedience. He smiled. Her fear melted and immediately she grasped how his people could count blessings in the midst of despair and pain. She stood with the choir and sang louder and stronger than ever.
“HOLY, HOLY is the LORD GOD almighty. WORTHY is HE. Hallelujah!”
