The denizens of Purr are languorous and lovely. Their days are spent in search of pleasure. Much time is spent at spas, where they are groomed, stroked and massaged until they are full of contented torpor. Succulent tidbits are always available at any time of the day or night. Gentle murmurs of satisfaction are heard, as they greet each other in passing through their days. There are no gates, or locks or doors, for visitors are always welcome.
The land of Woof lies not far from Purr. On first sight, it does not seem as welcoming as Purr, because visitors are greeted by high, forbidding stone walls, with sentries posted at strategic spots along the top of the bastion. Loud sounds of clanking armor and marching drills can be heard, although frequently laughter also joins the noisy bustle.
The inhabitants of Woof are warm, boisterous and friendly. They greet you with much hand shaking and great shouts of welcome. You are invited to share their simple but plentiful meal and are told if you want to live in Woof, you are assured of their eternal loyalty and protection. They are kind but their eyes are watchful and they tell you they are always on the alert. They live their lives as if always scenting the air… anticipating.
The skies are darkening. The air grows chill. There is an uneasy stirring. Look around.
DANGER! WAR IS COMING!
