‘When will this icy cold spell pass?’ ‘I’m melting in this heat.’
‘It’s nice to see the sun again,’ or ‘What a lovely day!’
‘I’ll soon develop webbed feet if these rains don’t go away!’
I can talk about the weather, so why is it that I
Don’t speak more of the living God, who made the earth and sky?
To voice the news of my Lord God, to speak of Him with ease,
I wish I could, but often, I will just clam up and freeze.
I could talk about my family to all who’d listen in:
The achievements of my children, what they’ve done and where they’ve been.
I can tell you of my parents, my brothers, sisters, spouse,
The years that I spent growing up, the family in our house.
I can talk about my family, so why is it so hard
To spread news of the Saviour and the Fatherhood of God.
To speak of His salvation and His rescue plan, so we
Could know His full forgiveness and be of His Family.
I could talk to all of Christmas, this festive time of year,
The shopping and the cooking, meeting up with loved ones dear,
The gifts I’ve bought, the Christmas tree, the decorations bright,
The Services, the heralding of carols through the night.
I can talk to all of Christmas, it’s an easy thing to do,
But help me Lord, this Christmas time, to point others to You:
The Mighty God, the Prince of Peace, the greatest news there’s been
That God in Christ has come to earth, to save us from our sin.
