Coming from anywhere.
Dedication--
To write the truth.
Such is my blight
The writer's curse.
To decipher fact from fiction.
To write what I know.
Do I share the story of my grandmother?
Who's back was so bad
That we kids would vacate our seats in a flash.
So that she would have two lazy-boys...one for each cheek?
Or do I share one about the young lady--
Trapped within a crystal coffin.
Determined to live a lie
That she is perfectly fine.
Dare I tiptoe through the scriptures?
Revisiting favorite stories
Seeing them through another's eyes.
Water to wine...and crossing the red sea.
Can I mix fact with fiction?
The blonde girl from the mall.
Wonder why she's got the skinned knees?
I bet she tried to practice flying like I did.
Oh, the writer's life!
Inspiration abounds in the oddest of situations.
Perhaps, it is just a matter of finding it.
In the most unlikely of places.
Oh, the writer's life!
A rare breed, that dedication is.
Now if only, I can lure it out
Perhaps a piece of chocolate will win tonight.
