“Hello there!”
Mike warmly welcomed the tall gentleman coming through the doors of the Community Hall.
“Good morning.”
Mike quickly glanced down the sheet of paper he’d been handed.
“So you are Sir Richard Gumbleton, I see.”
"Correct."
“And you’ve got quite a profile here. In fact I don’t think I’ve come across such a list of qualifications and achievements as this. Congratulations.”
Sir Richard smiled.
Pointing to the far corner of the public space, Mike said, “Henry over there will show you which seat you can have near the cloakrooms.”
Sir Richard strolled reluctantly to his appointed place.
“Hello there!”
Mike welcomed the small older man coming in.
“Hello.”
“Please tell me your name.”
“I’m Jimmy Barnes.”
“And what can I describe you as, please?”
“Well, nobody much at all. Just worked on farms all me life. Started as soon as I could get out of school. Parents didn’t speak to me for a month after I told ‘em.”
“Right. Thank you, Jimmy. You can go up and sit near the special table at the front.”
“Wow. But I’m nothing special.”
“Well, that depends on how other folks see you, Jimmy.”
“Love does not parade itself.” 1 Corinthians 13:4
