Sitting on the cool sands on the beach, watching the magnificent beauty of sun, sand, sky and sea at sunset my soul relaxes into peaceful serenity. Emerald green and Safire blue ocean waves, wearing crowns of frothy spray sprinkled with diamond dust, rise and fall, tumbling and chasing each other as they race to the shore. They crash on the sandbar, fall down and crawl up the golden sand and lay down their sparkling crowns. The tranquility of the scene mesmerizes me and my thoughts begin to wonder and wander.

My thoughts wonder about the invisible sandbar. It is a barrier, a ridge of sand formed by the ocean waves along the shore. Waves have to crash on the sandbar before reaching the shore. The sandbar marks the end of the ocean's territory . Lord Tennyson, the English poet had this in mind when he wrote his poem, " Crossing the bar".

Tennyson's poem describes the sandbar as marking the separation between sea and sand. It is where the sea ends and the land begins. He compares the sandbar to death, which divides life and eternity. It sounds sad and that evening I was peaceful and happy and could not welcome that thought. And so my thoughts wandered. In my mind's eye I saw the sandbar as my Savior's Cross. It stands between sin and salvation.

It is a beautiful picture. The unruly waves of sin on one side and and peaceful bliss of heaven on the other. And in between is the mercy of God, promising forgiveness to man if he would confess and accept His salvation. Is this not the message of the Gospel in a nut shell?

Sometimes God's divine truth is manifested in nature. It is so simple that it is easily overlooked. I thank God for giving me thoughts that wander and wonder.

I liked the descriptive language in the first paragraph - taking us right where you were.

The analogy and the application was great.
