Since he was a fellow reporter where Belinda worked, she asked with just the right note of professional interest, so he wouldn’t suspect any other motive for her question, “What’s happening, Wally?”
He grunted, “No harm in telling. You can't scoop me. The president’s campaign dinner on his yacht, Melania, is being held up by a supercrook.”
Belinda needed to know more before racing into action. “Who?”
Wally answered, “Lady Freeze. You had the last story about her capture. Looks like you won’t be getting this one.”
Belinda had a quandary, race to the hostage situation and reveal her secret identity to Wally, or leave this powerful villain to be dealt with by the authorities. She knew from experience they wouldn’t be able to handle Lady Freeze. She made her decision quickly. They had been friends for quite some time, and she was 90% certain she could trust him with her secret.
With a wicked grin, Belinda looked Wally in the eyes and flirted, “I wouldn’t let a guy watch me change clothes on a date, but in this case I’m going to take the plunge and make an exception…”
He looked confused as she reached into her purse and pulled out a square of yellow cloth and asked, ”What do you mean change clothes?”
She shook out the bundle to reveal her Speedster costume and smirked, “No peeking, Wally!”
At super-speed, all he saw was a blur, as her slacks and shirt hit the ground and an instant later the Speedster stood before him dressed for action except for her mask. She said, ”I’m trusting you, Wally. There won’t be a second date if you blow my secret.”
He just nodded dumbly as she headed towards the water’s edge, leapt off, and hit the water running, racing towards the horizon and the yacht. He knew Belinda would get the story, and wondered how she would account for being there.
Aboard the Melania, President Hande asked the woman dressed in silver, “What do you want?”
Lady Freeze, her hands around the first lady’s throat, looked over her shoulder at the terrified man standing behind her, and smiled as she responded, "Nothing of financial value, sir. Just a full pardon for all my past offences. Maybe, if possible, a pardon for future crimes. I’m not sure what a presidential pardon can cover.”
Speedster arrived just in time to hear the demand. She knew that if she made a mistake Freeze would flash-freeze the first lady so hard that one push and she’d shatter from the impact. She couldn’t just jump in with both feet. She had to be stealthy.
Accordingly, Speedster vibrated below the deck, where she could come in beneath the section where the hostage and criminal were locked in a death grip. She vibrated the yacht to make people lose their balance. As soon as Speedster heard the sounds of people falling down on the deck above, she raced topside, where she made quick work of her foe.
After helping the first lady to her feet and seeing that the president was okay, she stepped over to him and shook his hand. "I'm so sorry for knocking you and your wife down, Mr. President."
He beamed on her the grin she had seen so often on TV. "It was a small price to pay for you saving the love of my life!"
Turning to the agent-in-charge of the Secret Service detail he quipped, “Jack, what do you think about my asking this amazing young woman to join the Secret Service? She did more than you and your boys to protect me and Beth today.”
Before the agent could respond, Speedster interjected, “Sir, that’s unfair to them. I’m willing to bet there isn’t any training on how to take down supervillains...”
Seeing his mouth open to respond, she added, “I’m not interested in a position to help train them, either.”
President Hande, experiencing a rare loss for words, just nodded.
Speedster turned toward the rail. "If you will excuse me Mr. President and Mrs. Hande, I have a first date to resume."
Speedster swung both feet over the rail and jumped overboard.

On a personal preference note, I think it would be fun to save the revealing of Speedster's identity for a later time in the story, rather than have it be right at the beginning.
