Andrew closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he struggled to picture the entire section of verse in his mind. He had prepared for this moment for over a month, but now he would find out whether or not all of that time had been wasted.

"Andrew, it's your turn."

Andrew opened his eyes, smiled weakly, stepped forward and recited,

"There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."

Taking another deep breath, Andrew continued, "Romans chapter eight, verses one through four, English Standard Version."

There was a long pause before Andrew heard the words, "Correct; you and your father are the winners of our competition. Congratulations to you both."

Andrew threw his hands up in the air as his father enveloped him in a hug before saying, "you were amazing son. All of that hard work really paid off."

"Thanks, Dad."

They were ushered up onto a stage and presented a trophy before all of the other competitors. It was amazing to do so well and to be honored before all the other members of the troop. Andrew couldn't stop smiling the whole time. He enjoyed the congratulations of everyone until he was exhausted. Finally his father asked, "ready to head home?"

Andrew nodded gratefully. He had worked hard and he was tired. On the ride home they were both quiet, but Andrew was content. As his father pulled into the driveway and parked the truck, he turned to Andrew and asked, "how did it feel being up there on stage with the trophy and having all of your hard work pay off?"

"It was great, Dad, but the best part was spending time with you."

His father reached over and hugged him tight saying, "yes, Andrew, that was the greatest victory of all."
