Katherine sat pensively waiting for the woman to clear customs. She had never met Margaret and yet she knew so much about her. She was a legend. She had left for the missionary field as a young woman and never come back; until today. Old age had finally forced her from the place where she had ministered the gospel for more years that Katherine had lived.

"That's her."

Margaret was dressed simply. She wore a plain white dress with sturdy shoes, but it was the way she carried herself that was impressive. Despite her advanced years, she demonstrated a strength of body that was impressive.

"Over here, Margaret."

The woman's eyes immediately shot in her direction. Her gaze was keen and when she spotted Katherine waving her hand she moved with determined speed in her direction. Margaret stopped before Katherine and gave her a detailed once over.

"You are Katherine?"

Margaret's voice sounded tired, most likely from the long flight, but there was a sincerity within that could not be denied.

"I am."

"Thank you taking me in."

"My pleasure; where are your bags?"

"Oh, they will deliver them to your home. I had quite a bit."

"I can imagine. Ready to go?"

"Yes."

Katherine started to help the older woman walk, but decided that she was probably in better physical shape than she was. Katherine found that to be true once they were out of the main terminal. The older woman kept up a brisk pace and Katherine did her best to keep up. She breathed a sigh of relief once they reached her vehicle and were safely inside.

"This is nice, Was it expensive?"

Margaret sat in the passenger seat and looked about her in wonder.

"A little bit, but it is very safe."

"I see."

The conversation lagged on the ride home. Katherine wondered how difficult it would be for Margaret to adjust to life in the United States after living in such a different place. Would she be bored? Would she be overwhelmed? Only time would tell. Finally, Katherine pulled into the driveway and Margaret let out an audible sound that Katherine couldn't interpret.

"We're here. Are you okay?"

"All of this is yours?"

"It is. We have been very blessed."

"I see."

The two women got out of the vehicle and made their way to the front door. This time Katherine took the lead and Margaret seemed to lag behind. Katherine unlocked the door, opened it, and waited for Margaret to catch up. The older woman stopped on the porch saying, "I haven't experienced such opulence. You truly are a blessed woman."

They stepped inside and while Katherine put away her things she said, "make yourself at home."

After a few moments she returned to find Margaret standing in the living room and taking everything in. She did appear overwhelmed by all she was seeing. Katherine stood tall and said, "welcome home, Margaret."

Margaret smiled, but there was clearly a far off look in her eyes as she replied, "thank you so much."

Katherine realized that Margaret would never truly be home until she was in the arms of her savior. She truly was just passing through. As Katherine recalled from somewhere, "farther up, farther in."
