Lying comfortably in bed, Carlos feels the strong pull to turn over and go back to sleep. He is a big fan of sleeping, especially on the weekend. But today is Sunday and other opportunities present themselves. He knows that his young daughter is already up and has been picked up for church. She is his hero. She is the one that encouraged him to overcome his natural laziness and make church attendance a priority.

"Well, if I'm going to do this, I have to do it now."

As he rolls out of bed, his wife mumbles something and lifts her head. They both struggle with similar challenges in getting going in the morning. Her anxiety comes and goes and can be overwhelming and he admires how much she has to overcome to be a part of a group event.

"I'm going to grab a shower. You coming to church today?"

"Yeah."

He smiles and heads toward the shower. It helps get him moving and now that he is up, he is looking forward to going to church. He enjoys the people and they accept he and his family for who they are. Dressed, he walks out to the front room where his wife is waiting to leave.

"Ready?"

"Let's go."

Fortunately, the ride over is short. It's nice having a church close by. They easily find a parking spot and head inside. They meet in an elementary school which is transformed into a church on Sunday mornings. The feeling is low key and matches his personality. As they enter, the worship team is getting set up. Not only is he at church, but he is early, because his gift for singing was recognized and he has been asked to be a part of the worship team. It goes against his nature. He hates being up front of a crowd. But the encouragement of the team was too much to resist and his daughter is there setting a wonderful example for him to follow.

"Hey, dad."

"Hi, Kaitlin."

He gives her a big hug.

"Are you ready, dad?"

"I am. Let's do this."

The first song begins and he joins his daughter in worshiping Jesus. It feels right. He is doing what God meant him to do. He will probably never feel totally comfortable up front, but the joy he feels as he sings, well, there is nothing better.
