Larissa knew the phone wouldn’t stop ringing anytime soon, so she answered flatly, “Larissa Natator.”
“Atlanta Bear, here. I presume you know how the last guest you lined up worked out?”
Responding to her native Spanish Larissa answered “Si.”
“Can I ask you to set up another interview? You are the only reporter who ever gets interviews with those intolerant kids.”
Larissa’s blood boiled. Bear was someone who could advance her career, but she also had just insulted her sister. She answered, reverting to English, “No nasty questions this time, right?”
Bear oozed insincerity, “No, my dear Ms. Natator, I will keep it to general questions about one hero. Just not anyone who has energy blast powers, please. I mean the size changer or the mermaid would be nice and safe, right?”
Larissa realized Bear was referring to her sister as ‘the mermaid"’ and knew with her sister’s limited command of English it would be a trainwreck of an interview. That thought went through her mind in an instant and she responded, “I will try to get Amazing Girl to sit down with you, no promises.”
A few minutes of pleasantries later, Larissa hung up and wondered how she’d get Tabitha Swift to agree to being grilled by Bear. The whole team had heard about the interview with Blue Flame. Gravitron wanted to bring down the studio with his gravity powers.
She contacted Rebecca, asking very humbly to have Amazing Girl call her.
An hour later Larissa had set up the interview and called Bear back to make the arrangements.

The following Saturday night, the most timid member of the Light Force walked nervously into the studio where Bear awaited her, thinking "I’d rather face a real bear than this woman.’
Bear introduced her as she waved Amazing Girl to a chair. "Tonight we have another member of the Light Force as our guest. Let’s have a round of applause for Amazing Girl!”
Tabitha didn’t like being in the limelight, and even this canned applause made her self-conscious. Like Blue Flame had, her communicator was left on so the Sexton’s could provide assistance if she needed it. She heard Andrew’s voice in her ear, telling her to relax. It seemed to help a bit, like she had someone familiar with her to provide moral support.
Bear spoke directly to her. “So, Amazing Girl... how’d you come up with that codename?”
Tabitha relaxed as she realized this was going to be a softball question, not like the ones Bear hit Faith with a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps Bear had learned not to anger a super-hero.
Her voice gaining strength as she spoke, Tabitha responded “My first thought for a codename was Elastique...”
Bear interrupted, “Why not stick with that?”
Hiding her impatience, Tabitha replied, “I thought of that, but I remembered that movie a few years back with a character who could stretch who was called Elasti-Girl, and I didn’t want to end up in a battle with lawyers. Fighting enemies with advanced tech was going to be rough enough, so I figured that since we all had amazing powers I’d just be Amazing Girl.”
Bear responded quickly, “I take it you agree with your teammate that you got your powers because of your Christian faith?”
Tabitha answered simply, “It’s the truth!”
Bear again, “Are you claiming that God granted you these powers and you’re Amazing Girl because of a miracle?”
“I never claimed that. We were given our powers because of our strong Christian faith.”
Bear said “A difference that makes no difference.”
Tabitha spoke more forcefully this time, “No. Our powers are amazing because God designed our bodies to accept these gifts, not because He gave them directly to us.”
Bear decided, though this session was turning out better than the last, that she wasn’t going to try to get any more guests with super-powers. She didn’t need the strain of dealing with these religious fanatics.
Bear nodded and thanked her guest and went to a commercial break.
