ADD TO MY FAVORITES
and kindhearted
but lacks refined manners
She's like a tropical fruit
-its husk’s full of thorns
but inside its flesh is juicy
sweet and tender
How often I misjudge
her and focus
on the external
and forget
her inner qualities
that many admire
and even envy
Another chap that upsets
me is an elder
task oriented and strong
at doctrine and vocal
about church practices
But he fetches the young
and the old to meetings
in his rickety van without fail
I realise
that I am a rough diamond
I have rough edges too
there is a gap
between now and yet to be
It takes a rough diamond
to recognise another one
Like a lift
that’s still
under maintenance
“Be patient.
Repair is in progress!”
“Be merciful
God isn’t finished
with me yet” is the label
I should wear round
my neck
Yes, the Book says
For all creation,
gazing eagerly
as if with outstretched neck
is waiting and longing
to see the manifestation
of the children of God.
