I searched for an answer
to what to do or say.
Stumbling through all my years
and could not find my way.

Every turn was sinful
nothing turned out right.
All that surrounds me
was as dark as night.

If only there was someone
to tell me what was true.
I could just be happy
and could see it though.

The Evil One had caught me
always kept me down.
Until all that was left of me
lay scattered on the ground.

Nothing seem to matter
was dull as dull could be.
He had the chains that bound me
and cased me in life’s sea.

I cried out to the heavens
“help me ease this pain.”
I did not hear an answer
it drove me quit insane.

Then one night it happened
I prayed for endless sleep.
And “if there is a God above
please hear me as I weep.

“I can hear you asking
I’ve always be right there.
My Son has paid the price for you
to show you that I care.”

All that I had asked for
to all that I had prayed.
Jesus is the answer
He has shown me the way.

Now there still is darkness
but now I fear no more.
He’s there to light my way
He has opened up the door.

Now I am so peaceful
no longer do I roam.
Jesus has taken my hand
He’s finally led me home.
