Our Lord in his time on the earth performed many miracles of healing the sick as we read in Matthew 4-23, "And Jesus went about all Galilee, "teaching in the synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people." God is still able to heal today according to his mercy and grace when we pray according to his will. If God does not heal, then our work on earth is done and we can rest in the fact that to absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Over the years I have been afflicted with UTI infections due to a medical condition. Recently had one the worst in some eighteen years that put me in ER at the hospital six times in a week. The last ER visit was over four hours and it appeared that the Lord was going to call me home. I prayed for the Lord to restore health to my body if it was his will, to keep me serving and spreading the Gospel.
The ER had me hooked up to many monitors, as my blood pressure was low, my heart beat was dangerously low, I had chest pains, and was dizzy and light headed. Everything was going wrong as I continued to lose blood, more than I was producing. As I prayed, they did a EKG and a chest X-Ray and took blood samples. The young male ER nurse was very friendly and I told him I was praying for the Lord's will to be done. He said he was also praying directly to the Lord, as he does for serious medical patients, and not to men as his church suggests.
Within the next hour, my blood pressure and heart beat monitors no longer were sounding alarms. The chest pains and dizzy condition was gone and the blood loss had nearly ended. The results of the EKG and chest X-Ray showed I did not have a heart attack, as feared. The Lord had answered our prayers and those of my church members and others. My wife, who had been with me in the ER, is a witness to the Lord's healing power as he answers prayers, if it is his will. Later the woman doctor told me that sure was a quick change and I understand you were praying and also I have included the lab results that are now normal in your hospital discharge papers.
Two days later, at the doctor's follow up, I was feeling normal again and ready to continue serving the Lord and write this religious column. We should have prayer on our lips at all times as we attempt to walk in the footsteps of our Lord.
