Topic: HOPE (joyful, confident expectation in salvation) (03/05/15)
Over centuries people have wondered, What is the purpose of God and just why he put us here on the earth? We also know that the secret things belong to our Lord Jesus Christ and we must be content to leave them to him. We must not attempt to pry into that which God has not revealed. We see even today where religious curiosity and speculation has killed the zeal and usefulness of many men. Some men have even tried to predict when our Lord will return to the earth and his believers.

It is not for us to speculate about what might happen and why it did not happen. It is our responsibility to bow, to believe, to obey and proclaim what God has revealed to us. We see in the Bible where God tells us in the scriptures his glorious and wise purpose of grace according to which he rules the world. The Book of Isaiah in Chapter 14 verses 24 to 27, God reveals his purpose and should be comfort to all his believers.

In verse 24 we read, "The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass, as I have purposed, so shall it stand" I do know what ever God's plan is, it will stand forever. His unchangeable, unaltered, and permanent plan he will do at his pleasure for his believers.

In Isaiah we see the purpose of God includes all things. " This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all nations" (Verse 26) God rules all the nations of the world and all the universe, according to his grace for the salvation of his people. Nothing happens by accident, nothing is determined by man, and nothing is controlled by Satan. God is the ruler of everything, at all times , wherever it happens.

"For the Lord of hosts hath proposed, and who shall disannul it" And his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?" (Verse 27) The Lord our God has a purpose that cannot be resisted and whose power cannot be defeated, as he is God.

Our Lord does what he wills. And this is what he wills -- the salvation of his people. We have a God of purpose and we pray that this Sunday will find us all in the church of our choice worshiping and praising our most gracious Lord Jesus Christ.

The title of this piece is what gives me the most hope. After I read the piece and thought about it a moment I reread the title and felt unbounded joy.

It's a good days' work a writer has done when he conveys that a person is safe and included in the plans of God. Spreading that kind of hope is a worthy task. Well done.

I enjoyed your article...especially the reality of what you wrote..."We also know that the secret things belong to our Lord Jesus Christ and we must be content to leave them to him" It made me realize that God is in control of everything in our lives and we must trust HIM completely, even the unknown secrets. I particularly appreciated your comment on how religious curiosity can destroy zeal. We can get side-tracked so quickly thinking on fascinating mysteries the Bible hints at but does not expand on. Focussed on these things we forget that Christ, the Gospel, and living in faith and active love should be our central occupation. A really good thought provoking piece.
