The first paragraph of this piece drew me in immediately. I wanted to understand what was going on. Terrific. And the voice of the piece is warm and inviting. This is someone I could get to know and love.

The very best part to me was the vivid dream that was like heaven. It might be powerful to change the balance in the piece. Give three paragraphs to the problem and six to the healing. I wonder what that would be like.

The description of the dream is so inviting, I want to spend more time there feeling the love of the people and the acceptance and joy.

Nice job.

This is a wonderful testimony that covers the times we feel distant from God, those times where we deeply forget His promises because of physical pain and troubles. Praise God for how He kept you in His hands during the time your faith was pushed to the point of breaking. I pray that those who need this message you bring, will be infused anew with the strength and beauty of our certain Hope in Christ. A well written and engaging story.

I'm not sure if this is fiction or non fiction, however, the journey is familiar to many.

Loss, more loss and pain, the way God seems to have deserted you.

The line, 'I wanted to believe but my heart was like an ash heap,' expressed the deep dissonance we have in our souls when life seems to take more than it gives.

But...hope rises.

This piece was so convincing a tear is running down my face. I wanted to weep for this poor woman. I agree with Teresa - your dream is compelling and a breath of heaven - we do want you to park there for a bit more. Thanks for your well-written Challenge entry.

Life was so rough for you, yet you kept hanging on. You had sufficient faith despite your tragic experiences and God led you to that "Dawn" where Hope resides. This reader felt your pain.
I have never experienced pain of your sort so I can not even emphasize with or for you.

Many interesting and well used words say a lot.

Towards the end I am sure you meant "washed away".

Very well written life story.

If this is your personal experience, I applaud your honesty, and pray that as God perfects his strength in your weakness he will open a ministry that allows the rubber to hit the road for others who know this pain but cannot admit to it for fear of being spiritually beaten up. Congrats on your EC.

Congrats on your placement in EC
Thanks everyone. I meant to add "true story" but only realized I hadn't added it after I'd posted. That was a tough time in my life, but God has been good and has, as He promised, given me new dreams to follow. While the last few years have had their ups and downs, He has truly blessed me. For that I am thankful.

Congratulations, Jeanette,on your EC place. Your testimony is brave and moving and touches on places that many of us go to from time to time. And the wonderful dream-like experience which brought hope reminds us of God's enduring love. Great writing!

Great testimony, Jeanette. I think most of us have had those 'toilet bowl' moments where everything seems bleak.

It's amazing how God comes and gives us the little we need to continue in the moment we need it most.

Thanks for sharing.
