Recently found the Bible I was given seventy-three years ago on Feb 14, 1941. when I made a decision to serve the Lord, at nine years of age. It was a real surprise to find this small Bible which was printed in Great Britain but it brought memories of that glorious day the Lord took me under His wings.
In a back blank page I had written information someone had given me about how to fail in my Christian life. This has caused me to wonder as it was not the usual comments on how to succeed as a young Christian boy that most Bible School teachers or parents would have given me? Here is what I wrote to fill that blank back page on my three by five inch Bible which must have been just the right hand size for a young boy Five Steps To Failure
1. Follow Far Off 2. Neglect To Feed The Soul 3. Not Having Goals
4. Totally Worldly Minded 5. Not Counting Costs
Looking at the five steps, today I see how these steps could lead to a Christian failure in life. 1. If we as Christians do not try to live a life walking with the Lord but follow far behind we do not have a close fellowship with our Lord and can stray afar. "Thou 2. If we fail to read the Bible our Soul fails to get Spiritual food and does not grow. 3. If we do not have any Spiritual goals to help others and spread the Gospel to all we come in contact we are not serving the Lord. 4. If we let our mind be focused on the worldly things around us and not on the Lord, we cannot serve the Lord to the best of our ability. 5. If we jump into things and do not first pray to the Lord for His guidance and protection our life maybe full of disappointments , trials and tribulations.
Whomever gave me the "Five Steps To Failure" seventy three years ago, I want to thank them. It made me think have I done all I could in my life to succeed and serve the Lord?
