As we work with our rosebush we come into contact with thorns. A gardener will protect his hands with gloves as he works among his rosebushes. We too need the daily Word of God for protection when hard times come. Pruning is necessary. Removing faded blooms and dead branches help to keep the rosebush blooming. So God, the Head Gardener prunes our life in ways to make us more Christ-like. Also important is the fertilizing process during the summer months to ensure continuous blooms. Spiritually, the Holy Spirit dwells within us continually to strengthen our inner man day by day.
Once a rose is cut and held in our hands we can truly appreciate the delicate beauty and fragrance close up. God chooses at times to cut a bloom out of our life. It is through the cutting times of life that we become a testimony of fragrance to others in ways that we could never imagine.
