for words can sting or stumble,
cause confusion, lie.
Do not beguile me with your tongue,
a trap perhaps
to catch me by.
Show me your eyes,
for eyes reflect the soul of man,
passions bold laid bare
and I can read your heart’s desire,
if it be me
and if you care.
The eyes of love
are like the ocean’s raging depths,
echoing the sea,
where I can ride the crest of waves
to greater heights
of ecstasy.
Hold me, my love.
I long to press my beating heart
against your chest
and feel the matching rhythm of
your beating heart
within my breast.
You raise your brows
in question now as if you thought
my words were vain.
If trust is gone and I live on
where can I dwell
and still be sane.
Somehow I know
when love has flown in human form
I still can trust
my Jesus, He who knows me best,
and loves me still.
Forget the words.
