I watched you toss and turn,
I wondered if I’d hear your call,
The one for which I yearned.
The sun rose up above the hills,
In all its majesty,
I thought you’d see its grandeur,
And turn your eyes to me.
You spent the morning in distress,
I watched you pace the floor,
I was ready to help you fight,
Your battles in this war.
Your children were oblivious,
So innocent and carefree,
I hoped that you’d become like them,
And give your trust to me.
That afternoon in the park,
I watched you hang your head,
I listened for your prayer,
But heard worrying instead.
My creation was around you,
Birds, butterflies and bees,
I wanted you to notice them,
And turn your thoughts to me.
Nightfall came, the day was gone,
I watched tears fall from your eyes,
I waited for your summons,
To call me to your side.
Another troubled, sleepless night,
Filled with anguish and misery,
When will you know I love you,
And turn your prayers to me?
