I have often thought about that moment in history in vivid detail, questioning why God would put His only begotten Son in such an awful predicament. Born specifically to die for the soul of man to repent and turn from evil to live freely in the presence of God. One has to ponder at some point what God was thinking.
When God created Adam and Eve He placed them in a garden full of everything they could ever need. He provided them nourishment for their health, each other for company and the love of strolling in His glory at all times. However, one thing He asked of them, not to eat of the fruit of the tree of life. Ironic how Eve's eyes became fixated on the one thing she did not have. The one thing she did not need. The luring of evil that deceived them away from truth and drove them out of fellowship with God.
As time progressed through the History of man, Moses became a righteous leader of all those who were called the children of the Living God. They were followers of the cloud by day and pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13:22 KJV). Once again, the spirit of God dwelt with His people and guided and directed their footsteps in a visible manner and yet again they turned unto idol gods and became fixated on the desires of the flesh.
I assume at this point, God was trying to think of another way to reveal the love for His creation asking only in return that they would walk in His commandments. So, He decided to send a flood hand picking a few of Noah's family to save in order to replenish the Earth and start fresh renewing the spirit of the earth and preparing the way for the birth of His son Jesus Christ through the generations of Noah's bloodline.
The enemy however had different plans and through the generations continued to sow seeds of sin. Attempting to destroy the plan of God by causing those in the bloodline to fall into diverse temptations. However, God as we all know was victorious and was smarter than the fallen angel, always providing a way out for those called according to the plan and survival of the generations that would make possible the birth of Christ.
God paid the price once again by planning, selecting and sending His lamb to be sacrificed as the final payment for our sin. “It is finished” Christ called out as he released His spirit unto the Father. The final sacrifice, for which He chose to take upon Himself in order for our sins to be forgiven.
Hebrews 2:9 (KJV)
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”
How do we as a people continue to take for granted the sufferings of the cross as if it were a simple task? I heard a minister speak one time on Christian living. He said that every time a confessor of the faith and born again Christian knowingly acts in sin nature it’s like they are nailing Him to the cross all over again. That imagery to me revealed the depth of every move I make.
Colossians 2:21-23 (KJV)
“Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using; after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.”
God is limitless. He is all knowing and loving. Jesus came to set the captive free from all chains including religious ones. It’s time to rise and shine. True liberty is being able to lead others to the freedom of the cross so they can taste and see that the Lord is good.
