TITLE: Revision of the Heart | Previous Challenge Entry

My Editor-in-Chief,
He accepted my submission,
At the hour of my belief.
A plot so far from perfect,
The story of my life,
Up until that moment,
Filled with angst and strife.
He started the revision,
Administered His grace,
And in just an instant,
Each trespass was erased.
Corruption was deleted,
My heart had room to spare,
He filled me with His Spirit,
And gave me gifts to share.
The greatest one was love,
Mirroring His only Son,
A multitude of sins,
Would quickly come undone.
Another fruit was added,
Replacing my chagrin,
It’s more than happiness,
Joy comes from within.
Peace came into my soul,
Allowing me to rest,
Tranquility is mine,
Through any trial or test.
Patience is imperative,
When the road seems long,
Giving me endurance,
To finish the race strong.
Kindness, goodness, gentleness,
Go together hand in hand,
Helping me treat others,
As the Golden Rule commands.
The next gift of devotion,
True faithfulness to God,
No longer just for show,
Dropping the facade.
The last characteristic,
A trait of self-control,
Acquired through discipline,
Of body, mind and soul.
Though He has refined me,
I’m still a work in progress,
My Editor won’t leave me,
And for that I am blessed.
