Looking at Phillip, you'd have instantly picked up on the signs of self abuse. The putrid scent of an unwashed body. Extreme nail and hair overgrowth. Had Phillip smiled, evidence of poor dental care would have screamed through the gaping holes of his teeth. Phillip was indeed a man of severe unrest.
At the peak of his addiction, Phillip's mental faculty crested any of his former works with the breakthrough of his first penned novel 'Surrogate Espionage'. The debut was modest and controlled with many of its readers suspecting schizophrenia as its driving force. Only those with open minds and possibly a similar addiction could relate to such a far out plot as robots infiltrating the human race. Nonetheless, petty royalties supported Phillip's habit that supported his writing…that supported his habit.
Phillip had officially tapped into a spring of creativity within his tormented mind, a place he often revisited for several more prized novels. Every success spaded the soil of his early grave. He wrote like a man possessed as his psyche began to match the paranoia of his written words.
Even in print, Phillip lived as an author starved - and like the pages of a book, his days were also numbered.
