I love my little garden pond
A jewel that glitters bright,
With goldfish swimming happily
In the warmth of the sunlight.
The edge is dressed with shapely rocks
And a garden border neat,
A mix of trees and little plants
To see it is a treat.
A bridge across the narrow part
From the pathway to the lawn,
Water lilies grow and flower
The feature to adorn.
For joy it was created
All new and clean and pure,
The water clear and sparkling
Our pleasure to ensure.
But now the water's brown,
There is no sparkle there.
The fish hide in the mire
And weeds are everywhere.
As days go by my pond gets worse
More weeds, a tangled mess.
The water turns a darker brown
My soul it does depress.
Till full of righteous energy
I purge that place of weeds,
And clean the brownness out
New water's what it needs.
That must be what God thinks of us
His jewel in Earth's big garden,
All turned bad and brown
A sad abomination.
And like my hard pond cleaning
God cleanses us from sin,
By sending His son Jesus
So our new life can begin.
Sparkling in God's garden
We are a jewel so rare,
Created clean and pure
A joy for all to share.
