TITLE: Ode to the Onerous Orange | Previous Challenge Entry

Orange, the subject, being quite refined
Though as I struggled to make that daunting word jive
Hearing the lack of rhyme, I sighed
Instead I pursued to compose some prose
Not considering how tough that that process could go
Great ideas, I thought, swirling to and fro
Realizing that each was missing something so
Heading back to the board to start over anew
Yet still feeling lost as if I hadn’t a clue
My mind, from one thought to another, it flew
Every time I thought that I finally knew
Somehow each piece that I began to write
Would invariably fail to feel “quite right”
I had hoped to not write something terribly trite
Though orange has presented quite a harrowing plight
Having thoughts about using some citrusy fruit
Or maybe a pumpkin in a story so cute
Realizing that either could be quite a hoot
Although at this point it really is moot
Now Wednesday is here as I sit on the fringe
Grasping at straws and becoming unhinged
Each time that I’ve tried to rhyme I just cringe…because of this fact:
