Did you know?
And created in reflection
makes the white of snow
And too the edge of fire.
Its a tricky hue,
but still, I'm growing
bored with blue.
The color of sea and sky
in denotative meaning
but from its connotation
I do my gleaning.
Violets are blue,
which never made sense.
And, too, the morning glories
growing along my fence.
True blue
means loyal
but purple
robes the royal.
I'd take blue blooded
nobility
but fear I'm more the jester
acting in absurdity.
And these blue veins
traveling with purpose under skin
lose all drive
without Your force let in.
Because in the depth of the ocean
and the expanse of sky,
I drown in the billows
and fall when I fly.
On the prismatic chart,
we're just one step from violet
but everything halted
when corn and flower met.
We won't begin to mention
the marriage of aqua and marine,
the lusty impropriety
of their created sheen.
No, we'll talk about
how I'm stuck in indigo,
how with all these shades,
I've still got nothing to show.
I don't want Tyrian imperial.
I'd settle for lavender.
Just fish me out
of this water colored blur.
Blue, more than all,
represents gloom
and finally, I'm asking
for much needed room.
Because blue, too,
is the understated word
for all the sadness
which I've endured.
Navy and cadet,
baby and powder.
How about red?
It screams so much louder.
And blue is for boys
but I'm a woman-your bride.
And I have a secret
which I desperately need to confide.
I stand her in waiting,
with nothing borrowed, nothing new.
I have nothing old,
only blue.
So would you go back to the pallet,
mix, maybe, yellow with blue,
come back with a color
to represent new?
Fresh leaves or the grass,
simpler indeed,
they represent beginning
and you can always weed.
The sky and the sea
are strokes never ending
but I can draw one leaf or one blade
leaving nothing pending.
Your sunshine yellow
with my blue madness
can create a turtle green
that moves slowly toward gladness.
