Topic: Red (10/01/09)
When I turned thirty-five my world started changing like the leaves during fall. My favorite color had always been green and now I wanted everything in red. I redecorated my bedroom and bathroom using red. The towels were pretty bright but I loved them. My husband thought I was losing my mind, especially when I brought home the red microwave. Without too much success, I tried to convince him that red appliances to match would look fabulous in my new kitchen.

Can you imagine the thrill of driving a shiny red sports car? I definitely can. I’m sure the day I started talking about owning one, is the day my husband thought about having me committed. Some day, I plan on having a red Camaro.

On a more serious note, red signifies a lot more than the trivial, material possessions my husband classifies as “stuff”. Red makes me realize that God is there to help me escape my trials and temptations, just like He helped the Israelites escape Egypt through the Red Sea.

Red also makes me think about roses. I love to receive red roses. They make me feel loved. Roses can be a wonderful token of how much someone means to you. But, the greatest gift ever is blood. We can give our blood to others to save their physical lives. That is an incredible gift to give someone. There is one man who gave all of us that gift. His blood saves our spiritual lives. All we have to do is accept it. It’s priceless and for all. Jesus shedding His precious blood for our lives was the greatest love ever displayed.

Was beginning to wonder how a microwave and Camaro could be considered a priceless gift. Glad it ended the way it did.
