And don’t forget our Senior Sunday Potluck starts at three.
We’ll read today these blessed words, from chapter ninety-two.
I’m sure you’ll find a message there that’s bound to speak to you.”
“THE RIGHTEOUS, YES, THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL ALL FLOURISH LIKE A TREE
I’m sure you know that verse is teaching more than botany.
But I recall last summer, when we toured the county fair
Just how we all enjoyed the lovely trees they’d planted there.”
“And by the way remind me to put out the sign-up sheet,
For those who plan on joining us for this year’s spring retreat.
But let’s get back into our text; there’s much that we can learn.
Where were we now? Did we just read about a flowering fern?”
“No, no, that’s right – a blooming tree. That’s how we all should be.
I’m sure we all recall the times we served God faithfully.
I know we taught the Sunday School and helped with VBS
And some of us remained behind to clean up all the mess.”
“But now we are retired and it’s time to take our rest.
Besides, those younger folks possess more energy and zest.
Now Brother Harold, will you read verse 13 nice and loud?
We all enjoy the way your voice is heard above the crowd.”
“NOW PLANTED IN THE GOOD LORD’S HOUSE, GOD’S PEOPLE FLOURISH TOO.
Of course, we know this Bible verse is teaching nothing new.
We all enjoy our time in church, that’s where we all belong.
I only wish that worship band would play my favorite song.”
“Please read along in verse fourteen, the bottom of your page.
THEY STILL PRODUCE A LOT OF FRUIT, WHY, EVEN IN OLD AGE.
I’m sorry folks, it’s getting late; the bell’s about to chime.
Next time we’ll study verse fifteen, but now it’s coffee time.”
