I get great pleasure from my creation – I see and know each flake, and listen to the symphony they play to me as they softly caress each other amidst the blanketing of their fall.
'Yes Lord, I too see beauty in the winter scene: the wispy white webs curtaining the firs like a mystical show piece; birds struggling for berries amidst blustering blowing; the rays of the weakened sun magnified to dazzling radiance by the reflection from a freezing pool, but there is a darkness too – a bleakness that battles to blight the winter's sights. Why has such severity been allowed to mar the winter's scene and cause such questioning from me?'
Night and day – spring, summer, autumn and winter are all one to me. Though you live in time, you are a part of my oneness too. Struggle is necessary for growth in earth's natural realm - my wintertime will work my will and shall my purposes fulfil.
'Then why does nature seem to sleep a slumber at this season-tide? And why exhale life's breath from nature's breast and adorn her with such lifelessness? The stirrings seem so slow to resuscitate the movements of the dying life on nature's pulse. Why not vibrant life - as you are Lord, is not your will paramount and rules must obey your whims?'
You err in your questioning. Death is but the bridge to the resurrection of a newness of life. All earth's designs conform to life and death and death and life. The pulse however faint cannot go out for its lifeblood flows from me.
'Will there then be a wintertime to fan us through the eternal years, to grow us like it has been here? Will the nature that is there, sustain its life by stress and strain to go on living with earth's pain? Or will there be an ease to life, that frees us from earth's winter's strife? You must know the way to make it fair. A growing life without no pain! Why not our earth share such gain?'
The seed that dies within the earth – is long in death, and dark and lone – yet when it sees the light of spring and hears the song that spring birds sing – that winter's gone and passed you by and brings the dying back to life. Like womankind comes through travail and sings the song 'a child is born' – so shall it be with you.
'Why then winter at all? What does it profit all living to suffer so? Are you sure it could not be changed? Or must I try and accommodate a season cold and dark and drear or change my mind and make it dear? I bow to you, I know you know what's best for me, and so accept it with good cheer. But I need to know, why winter?'
My child it is nature's Sabbath rest. It is a time of tender care and nurturing – a season of my embracing and communing with all of earth's life. Wintertime is dear to me and a special care is needed there. So enjoy my winter time with me and let your questioning cease to be.

The only thing I wasn't wild about was the title, which didn't seem to fit the lyrical mood of the entry.
Beautiful imagery, and a tender mood. Very nice.

Enjoyable read! Reminded me of Job's questioning God. Also reminded me that the earth was cursed because of mankind's sin, along with everything else. Nicely written!
