TITLE: Mr. USA's Diary | Previous Challenge Entry

She sat so still as the tears splashed down on her diary. She looked up as I called her name and invited me to sit beside her. I asker her, "Ms. USA what is written on those blemished pages?"
"Oh", she sighed as she glanced at me. "It's been most difficult, yet delightful too." Smiling her eyes glowed up as she turned the pages back to the beginning. "I was so young and my boys so brave. You've read of them no doubt, Ben, Jeff, George, Pat, and the rest, I loved them all so dearly."
"It was a heroic struggle. With fearless boldness they fought for freedom. I remember the day they inscribed those beautiful words on that enduring document, the Declaration of Independence. Fifty-six signed the parchment, 'With a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor'".
"I remember Ben, Franklin you know?" "Yes", I nodded as she continued. "He said, 'We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.' Many of my boys did lose it all. I was so proud of them."
"So many of my pages are stained with blood", she paused and looked me in the eye. "For the sake of freedom you know? My birth was all about freedom. Freedom to worship God, freedom to speak your thoughts and publish them, a right to bear arms and defend yourself..." She stopped there as her eyes clouded over.
"Freedom is never free." She continued." But God was with us then, I don't know about now", she groaned. "He was there when Washington crossed the Delaware, when Francis Scott Key penned our anthem, The Star Spangle Banner; He was at the Alamo and Shiloh Hill, on Flanders Field in World War I, and with us in World War II. I dare say He wept also. But He gave us strength and hope as we called on His name. We fought not just for our own freedom, but for the freedom of others."
"Have you looked at my magnificent buildings? God's Word from the Holy Bible is engraved upon my walls and etched in stone on my Memorials. They are such a testament to the Christian faith. You'll see them there in my White House, my Capitol building and the others. It was so grand. We were a nation birthed by men who had a firm reliance upon Almighty God and His Son Jesus Christ. Inscribed upon my buildings, monuments, and national symbols is our nation's faith in God."
"Now just look what we have done." Her tears turned into sobs as she continued. "We've told God we don't need Him anymore. We've kicked Him out of our schools, banned Him from the public square. Look here on this page dated, February 1963. My own Supreme Court came up with a new interpretation of the U.S. Constitution saying prayer in school is not legal. Why, we've always had prayer and Bible readings in all sorts of public places, including schools."
I could only watch as she turned the pages, her tears continued to flow. "Look here". She whispered pointing to a page dated January 22, 1973. I could barely make it out the script was so smudged. "Today, The United States Supreme Court handed down its infamous Roe vs. Wade decision which unleashed a holocaust on the unborn. ... 'We are killing my unborn children about 3,700 a day.'" Her body shook as she continued to weep. I had no words.
"Now, it's turned into a battle everyone's greed almost seems to outdo the others. The economy is in a shamble. My coffers our empty yet the boys and girls in charge keep dipping into them. We've lost our moral compass and we're a nation divided." She shook her head. "Is there no hope?"
She closed her diary and looked at me again. Suddenly a calm came over her as she spoke, "Yes, there is one, one hope. I read it in the Holy Bible, in *2, Chronicles 7 verse 14. ' If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.'"
Silently she bowed her head, closed her eyes and said no more.

I was thrown a bit by the title, which has "Mr." instead of "Ms"--and I think you wanted "Spangled" instead of "Spangle".
Small errors, but a very creative and entertaining entry that I really enjoyed reading.
We, as followers of Christ, need to unite and let our voices raise above the liberal leaders who are destroying what this country was founded on. Thanks for writing this.
