You are a clear still pool
in the midst of crashing waves.
I bathe in your spirit and will not drown.

While battles rage all around,
you are a quiet stronghold,
keeping me safe and giving me peace.

You are a rocky crag
in a mountain filled with robbers and thieves.
Hidden from their treachery, I am restored.

Amidst turmoil of nightmares,
you are a dream that is true.
I awake to find you have snuffed out Satan’s plans for me.

You are a whisper of truth,
interrupting the deafening babble of fools.
Your voice cuts through my heart and speaks to my soul.

Your light gives direction and warmth
in the frigid blizzard of my foolish plans.
You melt our hard hearts and show us the way home.

You are the One that soothes my soul
in the constant confusion
of this present life.

This was really good. It flowed well.

I would have maybe kept the form a bit more consistent by always starting with the "You are..." line, but that's a matter of opinion.

I loved all the analogies you used.

Our first temptation when we are trying to find calm is to turn to the strength within ourselves or look to outside means. However, you have beautifully pointed out the HE is the one true place where we can find it. Great job!
