Stop writing dear friends…this one’s mine…without a doubt. Save your energy for the next one. They finally gave me a topic that no one can beat me at. Ask my darling wife…she’ll give you the same advice…trust me…she knows me best. My kids, grandkids, neighbors and friends will all back up her every word.
Confused, perplexed, bewildered, baffled, flustered, chaotic, disconcerted, dazed, abashed, doubtful, befuddled…they’re all me. Check your Thesaurus; make sure to cross-reference each word. My given name should be added to the list and may well be some day. I’ll be as famous as “Murphy, Newton” or maybe even “ORIO.” I am typing faster than I can think because I am so excited about winning this challenge.
I don’t know what I’ll do with the money I win, or the FAME, fortunately pride is not one of my many faults. I was confused as a kid. I was the last one picked for sandlot baseball, probably because I didn’t know anything about baseball. I was always the one picked to play “skins” in gym class. Being the pudgiest boy in the class didn’t make it any more comfortable for me. My first ever, new bike was a girls model. Mom had a lot of fears back then. No wonder I was a confused kid.
I joined the Navy because I loved the sea and small boats. I spent three years on a 1554 foot long Aircraft Carrier. I was going to make the Navy a career, and then I met my wife and never went back. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret any of these things, but they all contributed to my confusion.
The “sixties & seventies” were rough on me. Well to be honest, I was rough on them. Those of you who were there know what I mean. Those of you, who weren’t, please don’t ask. Ok, so add all that damage to an already confused mind and that brings us up to the “eighty’s.”
It was in "eighty-four" that Jesus Christ took full control of my life. My entire thinking process changed in the twinkling of an eye. You’re expecting me to say that this confused human being was transformed into a prolific Christian writer overnight. Nope, the next day I awoke a confused “Believer in Christ.” Not confused about my salvation experience, just confused about everything else as I was before being saved.
Next, the years started taking their toll on my already overtaxed brain capacity. Some of you know exactly what I’m referring to, I heard you chuckle…For you younger readers, stick around a while, I promise that you’ll understand one day. Just keep on livin’ friends.
A few years ago I was injured in a work related accident. Among my other ailments is a condition called “Post Concussion Syndrome.” Guess what the major symptom is… yup, “confusion.” I’ve even got a note from my doctor if you don’t believe me. I’ll post a copy of it as soon as I can find it…I put it in a “safe place” somewhere around here.
So like I said in the beginning fellow writer wannabe’s… Stop writing this one’s mine…without a doubt. All I need to do now is find that bloomin’ website so I can send this in.

Would like to hear specific details about what the narrator found confusing during the sixties and seventies--as well as while he was in the Navy.
Wonderful description of confusion in later life!
Great title, too!
Along with the humor, I enjoyed the 6th paragraph. It's a great devotional. You're a winner in my book.
