An odd sorrow had overcome me. My prayers just didn’t seem to be going past the ceiling so I decided to read my Bible. As I picked it up the page fell open to Matthew 5. Then I started to read: Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the gentle for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and the persecuted for righteousness sake. Blessed is synonymous with happy so happy am I who have mourned, been poor in spirit and been gentle for I shall have comfort, the kingdom of heaven and the earth. This is far more than I could ever have hoped for. The lump of sorrow that wedged in my throat was then replaced with a well of warmth. Also happy am I because I have salvation through Jesus Christ who will never leave me nor forsake me, gives peace that passes understanding and paid for me that debt which He did not owe. Blessed am I with God’s word which will never pass away. Blessed am I with a God who is tried and true. I have put Him to the test time after time after time and He has proven himself, to me of such little faith, time after time after time. And I could go on and on.
