Let’s see if I understand. There’s no time off, no pay, and it’ll cause pain. I’ll like it sometimes, and I’ll hate it others. But the benefits and the fulfillment are beyond anything I can possibly imagine?
And there’s the love.
The love?
You may not always like it, or enjoy it…but you will always love it.
Okay then, I’ll take it…

Part II:
Are you sure?
I am.
I want you to think about it before you choose. I want you to be sure.
I am sure, for it is your will for me.
And I am pleased that you would volunteer for such a…mission, simply because I will it.
I would. And I do.
Then understand that, it is about much more than what we have already discussed.
I understand.
Do you?
I understand I am to become one of them; to walk with them and talk with them.
Yes, this is all true. But there is more still.
You spoke of the pain.
Yes.
Is this what you refer to now?
In some ways, yes.
But you also spoke of the love.
The love you have for them. But do not be so quick to assume that they will share this love. Do not assume that they will feel the same about you.
I understand. And yet, I feel that there is more you are trying to tell me.
There is.
What is it, Father?
There will come a time, a moment, when I will no longer love you.
This time, this moment you speak of…it is necessary?
It is.
And when this time is over, you will look on me with your love once again?
I will.
And when it is finished, you will be able to look at them once again…with this same love?
I will.
And they will be reconciled unto you? They will be forgiven? They will be free?
Yes.
My answer remains the same.
Then I will ask once more only. Son, this task that has been placed before you – are you willing? Are you willing to live with them? Are you willing to die for them?
I am.
Then let it be so…
