The atmosphere was tense in the hall. All the students were busy writing their exam. The invigilators, busily chatting, chose to ignore the students.
“Rajiv, I’ve got a spare chit on the second essay. Shall I pass it on to you?” hissed Sanjeev. “No Sanjeev.” replied Rajiv as he kept his eyes on the paper he was writing. “I’ll write whatever I can remember. Let me be honest.”
Soon the exam was over and they all stumbled out of the hall. Sanjeev accosted Rajiv, “What makes you different Rajiv? Why don’t you copy like the rest of us?”
Rajiv smiled. “Sanjeev, I believe in a living God. I have a standard to live by. I want to be honest, pure and true, in all I do. That is why I do not copy.”
Sanjeev looked earnestly at Rajiv. “But where do you get the standard from Rajiv?” he questioned.
Rajiv answered, “Our standard is the Bible. This book tells us all about how we have to live. God Himself speaks to us through this Word. He tells us how we ought to live.”
“If it is really that good Rajiv,” said Sanjeev, “I’d like to read it myself. Can you get me a copy?”
“Surely I will get you one Sanjeev,” Rajiv promised. “On Sunday morning you come with me. We’ll go to a gathering of similar people to worship God at a church.”
All the exams over, Rajiv and all his classmates were busy getting ready for their break up party. Pranay barged into Rajiv’s room. “Rajiv, I want you to dance with me and the others. Please come with me. We need to practice.”
“I am sorry Pranay,” said Rajiv, “I cannot dance with you.” “Why not Rajiv?” burst out Pranay, “Don’t be a spoilsport”.
Rajiv came close and laid his hand on Pranay’s shoulder. “I am a Christian Pranay. I have some convictions. I follow the word of God: the Bible. I need to keep away from some activities. But I am directing the skit and playing the lead in it.”
The party was over. All of them were having their special dinner. Pranay sat next to Rajiv. “Now tell me why you refused to take part in the dance we did?” he asked.
“Well Pranay,” replied Rajiv calmly, “I will take part in whatever is wholesome, good and virtuous. But if things are not so, I would rather stay away from them. This is because I am not my own. I belong to God who created me. He also redeemed me and made me his son. So it is my duty to keep myself pure and holy for God.”
Pranay gazed at Rajiv. “I need to know more of this God of yours Rajiv,” he blurted out. “Surely Pranay” relied Rajiv, “The Lord God created the entire universe. He created the first couple Adam and Eve in all purity. But sin entered into them through Satan. They disobeyed God and thus became sinful. This made them fall away from God. Since then all humans are intrinsically sinful. But God is holy. Sin cannot stand in his presence. Though God loved us, we cannot stand in His presence.”
Rajiv continued, “God sent his only son, the Lord Jesus Christ al the way to earth to be born as a human baby. He came and was born at Bethlehem some two thousand years. Jesus lived on earth. He taught men about God. He showed them the right path. He was killed on the cross at Calvary on Good Friday.”
“Then how can he help us?” enquired Pranay. “Let me continue,” replied Rajiv, “The Lord Jesus Christ rose up from the dead on the third day by his power. He lives now to help us turn away from sin.”
“I want to know more about this Jesus,” asked Pranay as they got up from the table. “Why don’t you come with me tomorrow to church?” invited Rajiv.

“I am so glad you brought two friends along Rajiv.” Remarked the Pastor as Rajiv greeted him after the service. “I think you are a good campus missionary”
