Word was birthed from within one space-less, time-less Spirit with infinite love to touch a sacred dream!
This Word was God and was with God, and within its timbre beat the heart of light and life! Night rolled away, wounded and ashamed. It could not comprehend this ecstasy which flung itself, as warmest welcome, onto utter barrenness. Word’s radiance burst with liberty as it ascended to a smile. Such was His first full day!
Stretching over the face of the deep, Word exhaled a vast new horizon. Laughter split the expanse, catching its own reflection in the sapphire pool beneath, from whence rose a fragrance of purest azure. The very first sky came to greet its new morning. Such was His second fine day.
Word spoke again, and the deep pooled in the hollow of His hand. Word blew upon the land His warmest wind, which formed immaculate shapes and natural forms, opened up fissures for springs and streams, and ever-flowing rivers. Word counted the dust and weighed the sand, measured the mountains and gauged the valleys, in preparation of His gifts for them. The earth began to sway with new excitement as Word pierced its quaking loam with heaps of seeds and roots. Word’s thunder stirred the winds and gathered the clouds. His “Yes” split the billows with lightning, and His rain soaked the ground with delight. Such was His third proud day.
Brightness spilled from the Word into the vast of His universe, setting into motion one brilliant show of light. The mighty sun understood when to govern the day. The moon learned how to lead the night; how to measure each month and year by tuning his silver strings to the song of each season. Morning and evening teased the light with their new colors. Such was His fourth blissful day.
Sinking His face into the cool and quiet deep, Word filled the waters of all brooks and rivers, oceans and straits, rivulets and puddles, rain-drops and dew-drops with a vastness of dazzling life. Then Word’s amplitude leapt into the sky, unfurling a feathered magnificence, bidding each new wing to fly and glide – to soar with winds of hope. Such was His fifth wondrous day.
Word spoke yet again, and an incalculable display of varied shapes and colors began to move across the land, whirring with the hum of a novel symphony. Yes, He spoke, and it became! He commanded, and it was!
Oh, the majesty, the splendor, the mighty sights and sounds, as Word stepped like a burning boulder to the ground, where then and there a serpent slithered under cover. Word stretched out His mighty soul with yearning, “Surely now is the time for my beloved child!” He knelt to scoop the sacred earth. His love dislodged a tear! And tear and dust – a lump of clay – waited within the palm of His hand to be molded and shaped, with every fiber of love divine, into the very first man. He bent toward quiet new lips and blew a kiss. Alleluia! The breath that woke mankind!
In utmost gesture of His friendship, Word bestowed upon His man all which He had made. Word walked and talked with man through plushest joy, and gave him but one warning. Then, as man dreamt his very first dream, Word took the beauty which slept within and woke it to be man’s wife. He rained upon them the boon of His hand, and such was His sixth blesséd day.
Suddenly the arms of the great ‘I Am’ gathered His Word and said, “It’s time to rest. You’ve created the Very Best!” The Word looked around and was pleased…almost…’til He exclaimed, “Oh that I may keep them safe, as they walk in purest freedom! What if they should eat of the hidden pain? May I please have the very last Word?”
“Amen!”
And such was His seventh Holy day.
